Detroit

Detroit was the motor city, and the violent crime capital of the country. The politicians were corrupt, and the citizens were poor. Then in 2005, Commander Star was sentenced to death. The city, along with a number of others like DC and New York, went through riots and protests sporadically for years. Two sides clashed over metahuman rights, and whether they helped or hindered the progress of society. In 2008, things finally came to open violence. A peaceful protester, Minnie Broker, was killed by the police. It was poor judgement from one officer which drew his gun on a crowd that had surrounded him. Someone tried to wrestle the weapon away from the officer and a stray bullet struck and killed her.

A short while later, Civilians began full out warfare. It started with one man that was using a sniper rifle to shoot police officers. And by 2009, he was the leader of a group that called themselves the Minutemen. In the year 2010, martial law was enacted and the city was fenced off. Nobody in or out without official clearance by the FBI and Homeland Security.

Detroit is divided into two halves. There’s the official government side, which is everything east of Comerica Park, the abandoned stadium of the Detroit Tigers. The west side is full of organized crime, the minutemen safe houses, and refugees that struggle to live on the official side.
